This training will prepare and certify you to:

  • Teach a Vinyasa Yoga class with precise adjustments and intelligent sequencing.
  • Focus on how to host also in-depth workshops, retreats etc.

  • 2:30 pm -5:00 pm: Philosophy, Adjusting, teaching techniques, workshops, yoga massage.
  • 5:00 pm: snack
  • 5:30 pm -6:30 pm: Satsang,  Yoga Business, Asana practice.
  • 7pm: dinner

PROGRAM CURRICULUM

ASANAS AND PRANAYAMA

Asanas are defined as posi ons. Postures were designed to act as stable posi ons for extended medita on. But more than that, the Asanas open energy channels (chakras) and the physical centers of the body. Asanas purify and strengthen the body and control and focus the mind. Asanas are a classic part of yoga’s eight
limbs, which s pulates that asanas should be stable and comfortable, casual and permanent.

The word Pranayama comes from Sanskrit and is usually translated as “breathing technique”. Pranayama originates from the yogic science, which is about checking the “flow” of Prana (life energy). In yoga it’s said that when you control this pranic flow, you control the physical and mental flow of energy in the universe, and on a daily/prac cal level this controls your bodily systems including respiratory, soma c, internal organs, and the brain.
In Vinyasa yoga, we prac ce Ujjayi breath, which is an invigora ng and soothing tool. Breathing creates heat in the body which has a direct impact on the performance of the different asanas. It’s not the only breathing we use but most o en it is called a base breath for other Pranayama exercises.

BANDHAS, GRANTHIS AND KOSHAS

Bandha means keeping or strengthening; bandhas create s hra (stability / support) and allows for freedom of movement. They collect the body’s internal wind / energy and therefore provides a be er and stronger flow of energy and body and thereby mind.

Granthis (Dukha – nega ve space) all obstacles to the free flow of energy is called Granthis. By understanding the nature of these Granthis we can find the op mum poten al energy of our body and mind. In other words we will be able to change from Granthis (dukha – nega ve space) to Sukha (posi ve space) Koshas – you can call the various levels that we have in the body… the physical, intellectual, energe c body, etc. These levels are important to be aware of through learning, export and training.

ANATOMY AND ALIGNMENT

Through anatomy we ensure a comprehensive understanding of our students and the body and its movements. We o en work with themes or understanding of individual areas. At each training a class follows an anatomical examina on. This means that we create insight into posi ons versus physics /
anatomy in mo on, both through theory and prac ce.

The purpose of alignment or adjustment / correc on for op mal posture is to get in touch with your inner body. When we have taught for a while we begin to get a be er overview of the class and will be aware that not all students have the correct alignment (op mal posture). In this part of the course we focus on the most appropriate ways to move students into their op mum posi ons.

THAI YOGA MASSAGE

In this part of the course you will learn all the basic elements of massage technique. We review and work with techniques that will enable you to perform a 1½ hour full body massage, which includes muscle massage, yoga features, acupressure, joint manipula on, relaxa on exercises and work with energy pathways. You will be given tools to work with the body, both in a complete 90 minute body massage and also with focusing on specific problems. As we are becoming yoga teachers we will bring a en on to how to use these techniques when teaching yoga classes both for the correc ons of students or as therapeu c tools in one-to-one sessions.

YOGA NIDRA, DEEP RELAXATION & MEDITATION

Yogic sleep or deep relaxa on is an essen al part of your yoga prac ce. There are three parts to Proper Relaxa on: Physical, Mental and Spiritual. The state of the mind and body is directly connected and if your muscles are relaxed, your mind is also relaxed. If the mind is restless, the body will suffer from this. It is a ma er of “le ng go” instead of “holding on”. There are many types of medita on, and in the beginning medita on is more correctly referred to as focus or concentra on. Medita on is constant observa on of the mind, and means that we focus on the mind in order to bring it to “silence” and experience the Self.

Through medita on we become aware of the “space” which is independent of the mind and the true being can thereby emerge. Medita on helps us to prac ce and cul vate being in the moment.

HISTORY AND PHILOSOPHY

Yoga is considered a divine science of life that came to enlightened wise men in medita on. Yoga is first men oned in the two ancient Indian scriptures; The Vedas and the Upanishads (the later part of the Vedas), and the la er became the pla orm of yoga teaching and philosophy called Vedanta. During this training, we will create an overview of the development of yoga as well as get acquainted with Yoga’s 8 limps, a set of ethical rules that are considered an important part of yoga prac ce.

HOW A 3 WEEK YTT SCHEDULE WORKS

In this yoga teacher training program there will be plenty of exci ng experiences and hard work awai ng. You will develop spiritually, physically as well as psychologically. Yoga is a very broad and life-long study, and here we will provide a secure base for those who want to go deeper into themselves through yoga. In this 200-hour yoga teacher training we will cover all the important elements from yoga posi ons to the anatomy of movement, pranayama to philosophy and more. Below we describe some of the topics the program will cover.

In addi on to the scheduled hours of teaching with Peter, all students are expected to read some obligatory texts (about 300 pages including philosophy, manual, anatomy, etc.) Also, students will be asked to do some homework to pass and eventually a final exam paper and a project / karma yoga.

This Yoga Teacher Training will include a total of 160 contact hours with Peter: 12 hours per day including breaks and 3 days off.

  • 60 hours: Asana Practice and technique
  • 35 hours: Teaching method and hands on
  • 20 hours: Anatomy and physiology
  • 20 hours: Philosophy and spiritual development
  • 10 hours: Practicum
  • 15 hours: Sequencing

Also included is a one year subscription to Peter’s online studying platform, www.Yogidia.com to study Classes and Asanas prior to arrival. 10 hours of class/asana prac ce and study should be spend on sequences given from the teacher upon signing up to Yogidia.com. Students must furthermore have a minimum of 10 hours of yoga prac ce before arriving. Contact us for details about how to prove these hours.

Students will be asked to teach (gain experience) and/or study 20 hours (to gain insight and self chosen subject) a er end of training to receive their cer fica on. These personalized assignments will be discussed with Peter before being given to the student.

PREREQUISITES

If you are interested in this training, please contact us and we will send you AN APPLICATION. Upon acceptance, we will coordinate to secure your deposit and get you enrolled into the program. It is expected that you as a student can par cipate in a coherent yoga class. We have no requirement that the student must have prac ced advanced Yoga, be par cularly agile, or be able to do a handstand (or the like). However a sincere interest in learning and understanding the basic principles of a Yoga prac ce as well as all the surrounding branches of yoga such as breathing, relaxa on, medita on, anatomy, philosophy,
correc on and general body understanding. During the training, we will go through everything from both gentle to demanding exercises and construc veness in asanas.
